The Peace Treaty signed by Japan and the Allied Powers at San Francisco required Japan to pay reparation for the undue hardship civilian internees and prisoners of war suffered while in the care of the Japanese authorities.

Hundreds of thousands suffered undue hardship, but only a few are alive today to continue the fight for the compensation that is their due.

To remind the world of what undue hardship meant to those in the care of the Japanese, this picture gallery has been assembled for publication on the Internet. Viewers may download any pictures that particularly impress them, and are urged to forward them on to their friends, colleagues and business contacts.

Gallery Pictures of undue hardship will be changed from time to time, but all shown will remain available through the World Wide Web so long as the fight of the very few survivors still alive continues.
